Calculator Standard Form

It is absolutely vital that you understand how to enter standard form into your calculator. It's also essential that you know what it then displays as the answer!
EXP button on calculator
The EXP button (above) on a calculator can be used for entering exponents (some people muddle these up with exponentials, which are entirely different). An exponent is just a posh word for multiplied by a certain power of ten.

Enter the number 3 × 1014 on your calculator by typing in:
[3] [EXP] [1] [4] [=]

Most calculators display what you type, and the answer, something like this:
