Solving Algebra

Paul asked the following question:

How do I solve 3t+4=19-2t?

Firstly, this is an equation with one unknown quantity (t) and the rest are just numbers. So let's work on those numbers first.

3t + 4 = 19 - 2t

If we subtract 4 from both sides, it will be a little tidier:

3t + 4 - 4 = 19 - 4 - 2t
3t = 15 - 2t

Now we can get rid of the subtracted 2t by adding 2t to both sides:

3t + 2t = 15 - 2t + 2t
5t = 15

Now to find t, we just divide each side by 5:

5t/5 = 15/5
t=3

Job done!
