Variable Resistors

As you may have read elsewhere, resistance increases with increasing length. It is possible to use this effect to build a variable resistor.

Resistance can be altered by changing the length of resistor in the circuit. The device below allows just that:

Rotating the knob alters the length, and in turn the resistance.
