AQA Science: Glossary - Variables

These are physical, chemical or biological quantities or characteristics.

Variables are the things that we change, or decide not to change, in an experiment. In other words, they are the very things we are investigating!

There are five types of variables that you should know about and it will take some time for you to become familiar with them. Here they are:

  • control
  • dependent / independent
