Fractions Question

Ross from Dundee sent this in:

"homework question confuses me how it is worded - question says - express each of the following with a denominator of 20 (1/2, 1/4, 3/4, 1/5, 3/5, 1/10, 2/10) i cant work it out - hope you can help"

Firstly, check you know what a denominator is!

So we need to express (re-write) each fraction with a denominator of 20 (i.e. on the bottom), whilst sitll having the same value as it did before.

So... 1/2 is the same as 10/20 (we have had to multiply the denominator by 10 to get 20, so we must also multiply the numerator by the same amount).

And... 1/4 ... hmm, multiply 4 by 5, so... 5/20

And so on for all the others! OK?

Job done!
