Power

Power is a word people muddle up with energy - and with good reason! The two terms are related, but they are not the same thing.

Power is defined as the rate of transfer of energy. It is given by:

EQUATION: power = energy transferred/time taken

or just

EQUATION: power = energy / time

The normal unit used to measure power in is therefore joules/sec or J/s.
