Kinetic Energy

This is the energy a body has because it's moving. To make something move requires a force, and an increase in speed means an increase in kinetic energy.

Similarly, to slow a body down needs kinetic energy to be transferred into other forms. Bicycle brakes, for example, turn it into heat (and maybe sound).
